Advertisements shown on web pages come in various
sizes and design. All advertisements in this demonstration will be
simple .gif files of .jpg files. They don't have to be graphic files. HTML or Flash can also be used. Each
web designer may use various size advertisements. Not all websites will
have the sizes below. Others may use sizes not shown here.
The advertisement above is a standard advertisement
that is 125 pixels high and 125 pixels wide, or 125 X 125. It may be
animated or a steady photo depending on your needs. The message on the
ad may vary. Clicking on the advertisement will take you to "Your
Website."
This advertisement may appear at various locations on
a webpage. Each web designer will choose what they think is best for
their site. Because of it's size it may appear in the side borders or
about anywhere on a page. The smaller size allows the cost to be lower
also.
This advertisement is 468 X 80 in size. This one has
the same features as the one above. Again it may have various messages.
The width of this advertisement usually limits it to being places
somewhere in the main body of the page. This ad is the most common size
found on the internet today.
The advertisement at the left is 120 X 600. It's
larger size makes it easy to display a lot of information. It's
height limits it location to the side of a page. This size ad is
usually displayed along with the navigation bar.
Because of it's larger size the cost for this ad is usually
higher. It's slightly higher cost can be offset by it's
effectiveness in getting out the message.
The information above should give you an idea about the sizes of your
advertisements. There are a few advantages that advertising on the internet has
over a printed publication is that your ads can move and attract attention, but
perhaps the greatest advantage is that a simple click will take the reader to
your site where you can present an abundance of information. In a way it does
more than even a radio, television, or newspaper ads can do. It gets people to
your site now. In some cases you
can even make the sale. Isn't that what you have a website for. It isn't that
easy with a newspaper or magazine.
